about art4ms
Let us take a moment to let you know how Art4MS came to be and why it's so special.
We, Justin Adams and myself (the somewhat newly minted Mrs. Cheyanne Adams) held our first art show in 2011 to help raise money for the MS Walk event held in Philadelphia in the beginning of May. The MS Walk raises funds for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, an organization that helps people affected by MS by funding cutting-edge research for prevention, treatments, and cures. The organization also drives change through advocacy by moving politicians and legislation, facilitating professional education, and providing programs and services that help people with MS and their families move their lives forward. In other words, they kick ass.
Justin was diagnosed with relapsing/remitting multiple sclerosis 11 years ago at the ripe old age of 23. Since then, treatment has made leaps and bounds. After years of injecting himself everyday with the subcutaneous drug Copaxone to help reduce the occurrence of relapses, he has now been able to switch to a newly released oral pill, Tecfidera. It goes without saying that most people on this good planet earth would prefer to swallow something the size of an ibuprofen than to inject themselves everyday. With each new treatment introduced, symptoms can be made that much more manageable and we're ultimately one step closer to finding a cure. The research to fund these clinical trials and studies is why we put our heart and soul into this art show, to help raise the funds needed to continue this important and life changing work.
Now, why an Art Show? Because we love the idea that you can donate a few dollar bills to our cause and go home with original local art! Last year we had 30 artists represented by over 60 pieces of photography, paintings, collages, jewelery, even homemade soaps! Because of each and every person who donated their time, effort, and beautiful work, we raised over $4000 last year- an even more monster of a success than the previous years.
Needless to say, we couldn't have done it without the works of the artists, the effort of the raffle and event sponsors, and support of our families and friends who continue to gather for this event that we hold so dear to our hearts.
Thank you for taking the time to visit our site and we would love to meet you at this years event!
As always, thank you, thank you, thank you.
With love,
Cheyanne and Justin
